At first dedicated to St Saviour, the Abbey acquired a reputaton for its worship of St. Foy.  Conquqes became one of the principal stages for pilgrims going to St James of Compostella .  This console is inspired by a magnificent capital stone of the 12th century representing a duel between two knights.  It is situated in the south tribune of the Nave.

In the 11th century, the Abbot Oldoric undertook the construction of a new Romanesque abbey. It is on the site and in place of a monastery built in the 7th century by a Hermit Dadon on a rocky headland overlooking the Ouch torrent in Rouergue. At first dedicated to St Saviour, the Abbey acquired a reputaton for its worship of St. Foy. Conquqes became one of the principal stages for pilgrims going to St James of Compostella .
