The Bookseller’s Portal was the place where knowledge was transmitted in 13th century Rouen. According to Greek mythology, the Chimaera is a monster born of the giant Typhon and the monster Ekhidna. It has a lion’s head, a dragon’s tail, and a goat’s body and it spits fire. In the Middle Ages the churches are filled with Chimaera, showing to a great variety of fantastic and hybrid animals. This likeable Chimaera is in fact a dragon which seduces and charms those who approach it. It would be better therefore to distrust his innocent air ! The Chimaera is the expression of a fertile imagination which leads to the maddest utopias when elated and out of control.
